AP Calculus AB and BC practice, played against a clock

Section I of AP Calculus AB is 42 multiple-choice questions in 100 minutes, worth half the exam. It splits in two: 29 questions in 62 minutes with no calculator, then 13 questions in 38 minutes where a graphing calculator is required. That works out to roughly two minutes a question, and the second half is where the calculator-active, context-heavy questions live.
The Course and Exam Description is explicit that multiple-choice questions cover analytical, graphical, tabular and verbal representations. A bank made only of expressions to differentiate misses most of the exam, no matter how hard those expressions are.

Every one of those counts falls inside the official band. The BC bank follows the BC weighting instead: infinite series is 19 of 100 questions (against the official 17–22%), parametric, polar and vector functions another 12 (official 11–13%), and the remaining 69 come from the AB core that BC also examines.
Graphs, tables and contexts — not just symbol pushing
The single biggest gap between a homemade calculus bank and the real exam is representation, not difficulty. Reading increase and decrease off a graph of f-prime, matching a slope field to a differential equation, computing an average rate from a table of values, or interpreting a derivative with units attached — these are the exam’s bread and butter, and they are exactly what a bank of "differentiate this" questions never asks.
Qinno’s calculus questions run about a third contextual, tabular or graphical, and 28 of them carry figures. Those figures are generated by script from the underlying mathematics, so the geometry on the page is the geometry in the problem rather than a drawing that approximates it.
A figure must not answer its own question
A graph earns its place when reading it is the skill being tested: judging monotonicity from f-prime, pairing a slope field with an equation, pulling values from a table. It has to go when it hands over the answer — a question asking which marked point has a vertical tangent, with the curve drawn, is answered by looking at the leftmost point and requires no calculus at all.
Every figure in the bank is checked against both failures: does it draw the answer, and does it perform the verification step the student was supposed to perform.
Timers are set per question, not per subject
Calculus questions get 60, 90 or 150 seconds depending on how many steps they take — the most generous tiers on Qinno, because a related-rates setup or an accumulation problem cannot be honestly done in 45 seconds.
A five-question match runs about eight and a half to nine minutes. Scoring rewards speed directly: a correct answer is worth 100 points plus up to 200 more for the time left on the clock, so 300 is a perfect question. The last question of every match is always drawn from the hardest tier.
Every wrong option is a specific mistake
Each wrong answer is the value you get by making one identifiable error: forgetting the inner derivative of a chain rule, reading a rate as a total, using left endpoints where the question asked for right, differentiating when the question asked for an antiderivative, or dropping the constant of integration where it matters.
All four options have to sit on the solution path, so covering them up and working the problem is the only way through. Options that cannot be reached by any plausible error are just filler, and filler is what lets a student pick the answer by shape rather than by mathematics.
What you do with the questions you miss
Every AP Calculus question you get wrong, in a battle or in practice, lands in your mistake book automatically, with the answer you chose, the correct answer, and an AI explanation that works through the method and names what each wrong option corresponds to.
Mistake practice serves only your own missed questions: answer one correctly and it leaves the rotation, miss it again and it stays. Practice questions are deliberately harder on average than battle questions, because practice is untimed and you can actually work on paper.
